Story:

The Volgan sniper misses Bill but kills Spud instead. The sniper is part of a small group that has been abandoned behind. They are led by a female which was a popular Volgan singer. At dawn, both the Volgan group and Bill's team join their voices to a chorus. Except Bill himself of course (6 pages).

Comments:

This strip echoes Charley's war in the trenches, especially the true story where both German and British troupes cease any kind of hostility for Christmas truce. To achieve this kind of mood, Pat Mills humanizes his Volgs in this strip, i.e. we now some of their names and points of interest. It is contrasted by the uncompromising attitude of Bill Savage.
