Story:

'Baptism of Fire': while Hammerstein leads Segreant Kowalski towards the American lines they spot a huge Volgan offensive. The only thing to do is to reach their lines before the attack begins, because if they don't get through in time, thousands of their fellow soldiers will die. So, in order to do this, Sergeant Kowalski orders Hammerstein to kill him so he will not slow him down nor be kept prisoner to be tortured. As a robot Hammerstein is compelled to execute this last order (6 pages).

Comments:

With that story arc, Pat Mills definitely takes his distance from the 'Thunderbirds' rip off. Two month later he will begin Charley's War, a First World War strip in Battle, and 'Hammerstein War's Memoirs' shares a lot of similitude with the spirit of that strip. Also, Ro-busters member X-27 is introduced in this strip. He will have a key role in the last Ro-busters arc 'The Fall and Rise of Ro-Jaws and Hammerstein'.
